  1. “I always feel like a kid myself when the back to school sales start “…I am the SAME way!! When I was single, I always bought school supplies just because!! Now that money is tighter, I don’t get to buy any…until my boy turns 5!!!!! Although, I think I might have to go get some $0.25 crayons for my boy. It’s always exciting to get a NEW box of crayons as a prize!!

  2. I picked up a bunch of the Pop Tarts, too, but was most excited about the Frosted Mini Wheats. If you printed the $5/5 coupon a little while back, then look for Cars2 Gas deals on the boxes, you can get the cereal for free after the gas cards.

How are you using RR’s? Does your store list Walgreens as a competitor? That would be very nice if they did it here.

  3. I couldn’t get through my week without Frosted Mini Wheats 🙂 I’m so bummered that I missed out on the $5/5 q, but my boxes have promo info printed on them and of course I didn’t realize until I got home that I need 4 codes to get the $5 gas card, but only bought 3 boxes – duh!

Do you shop at the Nine Mile Road store? I’ve used Walgreens RR there before to pay, but I haven’t been back since the “official policy” change so I can’t say for sure now, but I’ll ask the next time I’m in the store. Even if Wags isn’t considered a competitor (the Daphne store where I usually shop no longer considers them a competitor either since the change), they should still take the RR because they are not Wags qs, they are actually manufacturer coupons and my store will let you use as many as you have on you as if they’re cash. Before the new policy they would only take one per transaction, but they went back to the old way of accepting them all. YAY – thank you Publix!

  4. I stopped by WalMart today to get backpacks for the kids and I couldn’t resist – I got 10 packs of the 25 cent crayons while I was there! I prefer the Crayolas, which were 40 cents each, but my kids still spend just as much time breaking them as coloring with them so I’m good with the cheapies 🙂

  5. I prefer the Mobile Highway store – both are equal distance from me, but the people are SOOOO nice at Mobile Highway (not that the people at 9-Mile are mean, they’re nice, too. ;))

I’ll have to ask about RR’s the next time I go in. There are weeks that I HAVE to spend RR’s, and like this week, it sure would help with my OOP.

  6. That’s funny, those 2 stores are about equal distance from my parents’ house so I go to Mobile Hwy sometimes too – let me know what you find out please!

  7. Awesome buys! I know I love when it is school supply time!!!!!!!!! I am stocking up slowly but STOCKING Up lol!

I like to see what you buy because it helps me put my list in order! Sometimes you get in the… OOH I have a coupon for this and that but do not really need it! So when I come here see your buys.. It helps me come back to reality! 8)

  8. Denise do you do couponing at the Target on E Nile Mile? Target has had some great deals lately on Health & Beauty items… I got 6 multi-packs of John Frieda Hair stuff for free. It was a set of two full size products. Really neat!

  9. Shebella says

I too love great buys on school supplies. I try to keep a great deal of supply to keep my artisic high school children occupied. The best time to buy school supplies is October – December you can really get them on the cheap. I love that you go out and try the deals and then post them, so I know how to plan for the Thursday sale in Atlanta. Thanks for all you do. I also got my coupons today and I’m going to have some fun using them.

  10. Thank you Olenka – you’re always so good for my ego 🙂 I THOUGHT I had stocked up enough on the school supplies last year to keep the kids busy all year long but I didn’t quite make it so I’m on a mission this time around!

  11. My kids’ doctor’s office is the next block over from that Target so I get there on occasion but not as often as I’d like. Thanks for the update Amanda – I might have to make another trip over there really soon 🙂

  12. I’ll bet you always have quite the stash of school supplies! As a teacher, do you ever get sick of them? The school supplies I mean, not the students 😉 My five young’ns are a handful, I can’t even imagine having a ROOM full of them! My hat’s off to you!

  13. Shebella says

I love my job, so I guess every child goes with the territory. I would have never imagined having to purchase school supplies for more than my personal children, but as a teacher that is far and between. Each year around January when that first book bag gets lost, or juice falls in it, or it falls apart the book bag has to be replaced and all the supplies that were in it. I have provided so many book bags, poster boards, pencils, paper to the students in my school. They come to me because they know I don’t have the heart to turn them away. Each year I begin a stockpile of sale school supply items and continue to purchase supplies once they go on sale, because the kids in my school are always in need. What I found that I had to truly stock up on is gloves and socks for the winter. These items come in handy when the weather turns cold. Once again I have to say I love my job and wouldn’t trade it for any other job.

  14. Hey Denise, great job on the savings!

Question, when you said you used $14 RR do you mean Publix RR or Wags RR?

  15. Wow – I didn’t even think about the gloves and mittens! I can tell that you love your job, and I’m betting that you’re pretty fabulous at it! You have a generous spirit Shebella, don’t ever change 🙂

  16. Well I wasn’t very clear on that at all was I? I love to use any ‘extra’ Walgreens Register Rewards at Publix, and they accept them because they’re manufacturer’s coupons.

  17. Awesome, I never knew is that the RR’s that say 1,2,3,4,5 dollars off or the other type of MRF’s? thanks again!

  18. Those would be the red and white Register Rewards that are printed at Walgreens when you checkout, they should say something like $5 off your next purchase.
