My 3/31 Publix Trip – $109.11 for $22.34 or 80% Off

Wow – I was really having a blonde moment when I got ready for my shopping trip last night.  I haven’t been to Publix in two weeks due to my five year old’s surgery (thank you stockpile!) so I was rather excited to go this week as my son started started back to school today and I usually head straight over to Publix on Wednesdays after dropping him off.  I was surprised when I walked in and none of the B1G1s in the bins were on my list.  I went through the sale flyer quick and saw that I had planned for the wrong week somehow – what a bummer!  I almost walked right back out but my husband needed tea and I had a couple qs for free items I thought I’d go ahead and use.  I couldn’t believe it when I got out of there with $109.11 in groceries for only $22.34, or 80% off, even though I didn’t bring ANY qs for the sale stuff and came totally unprepared!  I always get my sneak peaks on Monday or Tuesday from Michelle at I Heart Publix but she’s in Georgia where sales start on Thursday so I just always ignore the dates – although I won’t do that again 😉  The good news is, I’m already totally prepared for next week’s sales – thanks Michelle!  Here are some of the deals I did get:

Breyers Ice Cream 48oz BOGO $4.99

Oscar Meyer Beef Franks, Assorted Varieties, Mix or Match Beef Bologna, 16 oz pkg BOGO $3.99

Lipton Tea Bags 100ct box, BOGO $3.95

Lays Potato Chips, Assorted Varieties, 10.5 to 13.25 oz bag (Excluding Baked, Light and Natural) BOGO $3.99

Orville Redenbacher Gourmet Popping Corn, Assorted Varieties, 12 to 19.8 oz box or 30 oz jar, BOGO $4.89
-One Free Box from VocalPoint

Pillsbury Rolls or Squares, Breadsticks, Pizza Crust, or Loaf, Assorted Varieties, 8 to 13.9 oz can, 3/$5
-$.95/1 Pillsbury Sweet Rolls (printable no longer available)

I had some good qs that were expiring like the $.95/1 Pillsbury Sweet Rolls, free Kashi crackers from VocalPoint, free Yoplait Greek Yogurt  and a couple for free Publix bread wyb Deli Fresh lunchmeat (2/$6 this week) and Deli Style slices.  Thank goodness I have $27 RR to use this week or I wouldn’t have done so well!

  1. I’m new to couponing. Can you use Walgreen’s RR at Publix?

  2. YES! As long as Walgreen’s is considered a competitor, so if there is one near your favorite Publix then you can use your RR at Publix. Check the policy at your store though because it varies – my favorite Publix in Fairhope recently switched to accepting any and all RR in a single transaction. On the other hand, the store in Orange Beach and the ones in Pensacola will take one RR per manufacturer. For instance, I had two $4 RR for Dove from last week – my Publix happily took them both today but the Pensacola store would have only taken one per transaction.

  3. Do you know of a Publix that does overage in Pensacola? I went to the one on W Nine Mile Rd and I was told they did but the manager gave me a big fat “No, we never have”. I had two cashiers tell me last week at that exact store that they did 🙁

  4. The Publix on E Nine Mile near Target is the most coupon friendly and does do overage. The Publix on Mobile Highway is becoming more coupon friendly and, unfortunately, the one on Nine Mile and Pine Forest Road is the least friendly to couponers 🙁

  5. Thanks! Glad to find someone else local. 🙂
