My 1/2 Walgreens Trip – $117.68 for $25.45 or 78% Off

Well I’m actually a little embarrassed at how much I spent at Walgreens today since I just posted this morning that my goal is to spend less than $100 this month but I blew a quarter of that in one trip and there are four weeks left to go, plus I haven’t been to the grocery store yet this week.  My excuse is that I’m hoping to lose six pounds before the Blissdom conference next month and I can’t go without my daily chocolate, so the Skinny Cow clusters were a necessity 😉  Oh well, it was a really good trip overall and I’ll just have to tighten up for the rest of the month!  Today I bought $117.68 worth of stuff for $25.45, or 78% off.  Here are the deals:

  1. I think you did great on this shop. Don’t feel guilty things happen. I totally hear you on the chocolate! It is a weakness of mine.

  2. Thank you for your support Suzanne! I just hope it’s enough chocolate to keep me for the month 🙂

Can you help me understand the cat litter deal? If it is 2/$10 ($5 each) then minus a .50 coupon=$4.50 each. How did you get it down to $1.83 each, what am I missing? I have 5 cats so I’m always trying to find a good cat litter deal. Hate having to pay so much for that stuff!

  4. You bet! Cat litter is always SO expensive that I wait until it’s on sale and stock up – for this week’s deal you got a $5 RR when you bought $20 worth of selected products. I bought 4 boxes of Skinny Cow @$2.99 and 2 cat litters on sale for $5 each. That brought me to $21.98, deduct $5.98 for the Skinny Cow coupons (I didn’t have the cat litter qs) and the $5 RR for a total out of of pocket of $10.98. Divide that by the six products and you get $1.83 each. However, if I had bought 4 cat litters instead of the Skinny Cow, and had coupons, it would have looked like this – $20 minus $2 qs, minus $5 RR, leaves you with $13 out of pocket, or $3.25 each for the cat litter. Still a very good deal considering their regular price is $6.99 each! Anytime I can grab litter for more than 50% off I take advantage of the deal!

  5. Hi Denise,

First would like to thank you for all your hard work for helping us save. I’m new to this and have 3 cats and would love to learn how does the RR rewards works. I’m so clueless. Does the register rewards comes off automatically on that same purchase or you have to use the RR for your next purchase.

  6. Thank YOU for visiting Fhaye! I love these kinds of questions because it makes my day to help others save $$$! Actually the Register Rewards print out as a Catalina that you can use like cash on your next purchase. Walgreens is pretty awesome about ringing up separate transactions for you so your next purchase could be right then, or the next week, just be sure to use the RR before they expire.
