My 1/12 Publix Trip – $76.65 for $8.59 or 89% Off

Well the cats refused to sign on for the Clean Out Your Cupboards Challenge so I went ahead and hooked them up with some food today 😉  We’re still doing pretty well at eating from the pantry, but we needed bread, lunchmeat and chips for some quick lunches, and I can never pass up cheap cashews or fruit pops.  I’m AMAZED that the month is almost half over and we’ve used $53 so far of our $375 monthly budget!  I used $20 RR to help pay and ended up with $76.65 worth of groceries for $8.59 or 89% off.  Here are the deals:

  1. How are you using RR at Publix? Are they from Walgreens? Confused. 🙂

  2. Hey Tammy! My local Publix accepts Walgreens RR (one per transaction so I always use the highest one I have) because they are manufacturers coupons. If you have a Publix near you then you should definitely run right over and ask because most of the stores have the same policy.

  3. Ok, I asked Publix today if they accept competitor coupons (Peachtree City, GA) and the customer service lady said yes but only for grocery competitors like Kroger or Winn Dixie, etc. not Target, etc. I guess I will ask at another location as I hear they can vary from store to store.

Thanks for the quick reply. Your site is one of my favs for good information. 🙂

  4. You bet – and definitely do try another store, but I’d also call the first store back and ask specifically about Register Rewards because technically they’re not considered a competitor coupon. My store will also take Wags qs from their coupon booklets which is AWESOME but the RR are manufacturers qs rather than store qs and Publix takes them like cash (some stores take as many as you have, some will only take one per transaction). Btw – you will want to hand the RR over after your qs and before your payment 🙂

  5. Had a great trip at publix . This was my first coupon trip. I saved $24.00 in coupons. My total out of pocket came to $63.00 but with my coupons and BOGS’s, etc I saved $78.00.So excited ! My Publix only takes competetor grocery store coupons, but the Publix one hour from my in the “local” BIG city takes coupons from any store within 5 miles, so check each Publix as they have different rules. 🙂

  6. Great price on the cat food! I am always jealous of Publix trips!
