Peanut Butter & Chocolate Muddy Buddy Mix Recipe

This is the time of year when we make all of our favorite treats like Chex™ Muddy Buddies™ Party Mix, or as we call it, Puppy Chow – cuz it’s so doggone good! I know, that’s very punny, but really you just can’t go wrong with any kind of Chex mix and this Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheerios™ Muddy Buddies recipe is our new favorite. The kids and I always enjoy making homemade gifts for our neighbors and my office mates and I can’t wait to take this new mix to work tomorrow – my cube is gonna be popular! The recipe below made enough to fill three of these buckets so my parents and favorite neighbors are also gonna score this week.

We paired our all time staples of Chex cereal (pick your favorite variety, although Rice or Corn Chex are recommended) and Nestle semi-sweet morsels with our new fave cereal, Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheerios and added peanuts and miniature peanut butter cups to make a scrumptious Chocolate Peanut Butter Muddy Buddies Mix that has received rave reviews from the kids. Of course momma loves a great deal so I’m ecstatic that Publix currently has a Buy any 3 Chex cereals and get 1 Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheerios FREE coupon available, as if you needed more incentive to make this recipe!

Go ahead and measure out the Chex and Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheerios in a bowl and set aside. Next, add the chocolate chips, butter and peanut butter to a microwave proof bowl and microwave on high for a minute, stir and microwave for an additional 30 seconds if necessary until the mix stirs smooth.

Pour the warm mixture over the cereal and stir until it is evenly coated. I then placed half of the cereal mixture in each of two gallon size Ziploc® bags before adding half of the powdered sugar to each bag. After shaking to mix well, I allowed the mix to cool before adding the peanuts and peanut butter cups.
