10 Ways to Decorate a Pumpkin Without Carving It

10 Ways to Decorate a Pumpkin Without Carving It

I love Halloween but with small kids, taking out pumpkin guts and carving a pumpkin is messy and time consuming and I can never get the design to look quite the way I envisioned it in my head. So, we started looking for out of the box ways to decorate our pumpkins and over the years have used several on this list and have bookmarked the others to use in the years to come.

In my opinion, many of these ideas are much more fun than regular old pumpkin carving plus our decorated pumpkins last so much longer than carved ones!

1) Mummy Pumpkins

Using gauze, wrap your pumpkins up like a mummy and then you can put faces on them with markers and add other decorations.

2) Painted Pumpkins

This one is one of our favorites. It’s super easy for younger kids to be able to take part in and can double as an art class! I love the painted scarecrow pumpkin above and it was super easy to put together.

3) Foam Faces

I found these foam pumpkin faces on Amazon that just require some glue (I suggest a hot glue gun) and bam you are done! There are lots of adorable looks to choose from and you can mix and match to make your own creations.

4) Sticker It Up

Using Pumpkin Face stickers you can easily decorate your pumpkins and as a bonus it’s easy to decorate front and back to switch it up!

5) Melted Crayon Art

Breaking crayons in half and taking any wrappers off place then at the top of the pumpkin up by the stem. Then you can use a hair drier to melt the crayons. They will drip down the sides and dry. I love this look!

6) Glow in the Dark Pumpkins

Using glow in the dark paint, paint design and decorate your pumpkins. There is enough color in the paint to see the designs during the day but it really pops once the sun goes down.

7) Bedazzled Pumpkins

Using crafting jewels and some hot glue you can bedazzle your pumpkins in swirls and many other designs. Let your imagination go crazy.

8) Chalkboard Pumpkins

Using Chalkboard paint you can paint your pumpkins then decorate it with chalk daily. A new design for each day or even go crazy a do several designs a day.

9) Glitter Pumpkins

Coat your pumpkin in Mod Podge and then cover in glitter. I love the classic gold or silver glitter but you can go for any color to match your decor or even use multiple colors.

10) The Decal Pumpkin

You can find vinyl decals to say anything you want like “Happy Fall Y’all” or perhaps your last name or house number. Make up some of your favorite sayings, paint your pumpkin, then add your decals.

How will you be decorating your pumpkin this year?
