Sarah’s Office Depot Trip – $59.08 for $9.19

Everybody I know and every household I’m familiar with have both a computer and a printer, which means at the least they use paper and ink for the printer.  I would also assume that most households also use tape, a stapler, paper clips, some mailing envelopes in addition to other office supplies.

Have you considered signing up for Office Depot’s Rewards Club so you can get money back on your purchases?  In addition to getting a percentage back on your purchases, they also send out coupons for $10/$50 or $15/$75, which come in handy.

Yesterday I took advantage of both methods of discounts at Office Depot – my “Rewards” money and one of the coupons.  Here’s a picture of my “Rewards” dollars I’d earned the previous quarter:

I needed a few basic things, so threw these into my cart:

10 pack scotch tape – $15.99

6 pack mailing tape – $14.99

1 box of 100 6×9″ mailing envelopes – $9.99

1 ream white card stock – $13.99

Total of the above, including tax was $59.08

I first used my $10/$50 coupon that had come in the mail, then gave them my $39.14 Rewards card, leaving me with a total of $9.19.  Now, that’s my kind of a shopping trip!

As a side note – did you know that Office Depot will give you $3.00 on your reward’s card for EVERY ink cartridge or toner cartridge that you take in for them to recycle?  I took 4 in with me yesterday, so I’ll be getting an additional $12 on my next quarterly rewards card.

Sarah’s Quick Trip Into Publix 2/21

My 5 year old grandson loves to spend weekends with Papaw and Mamaw, so we usually pick him up Saturday morning and take him back home Sunday night.  Well, last night we needed milk, so I decided to run into Publix quick for a gallon of milk (Publix is on our way home, so no big deal in stopping for one item).

When I walked in I immediately saw the BOGO bins in front of the store – they’re always located so you’d have to walk into them if you didn’t make a turn to get around them.  The first thing I saw were Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups (my favorite food in the world!) – packages of 6 of the 2 per pkg ones, on sale BOGO, so I had no choice but to pick up two of those.  Then a little further down the row of bins I found boxes of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese on sale for .59 each (savings of .74 each).  My quadruplet 4 year old grandbabies LOVE mac & cheese – and most especially if it has SpongeBob on the outside.   Well, I threw 10 of them into my cart (should have bought more I guess at that price, but I was only going in for a gallon of milk)!

My total bill at Publix for last nights’ “quick trip” was $13.28 and my savings was $11.59.  Whoohoo – and I didn’t even have my loaded CouponClutch with me, or I might have been able to save a few more pennies!

Sarah’s Shopping Trips 1/7/2010

Boy Howdy do I feel like I’ve just won a jackpot of some kind with all my savings today.  I started out at Walgreens with a handful of coupons and the list of what I was going to get.  I ended up paying about .55 per can for the 9 cans of Progresso Soup I bought (with coupons and RR’s), then got two bottles of children’s Tylenol Cold with an end price of $1.50 each, AND four bottles of TheraFlu with an end price of .49 per bottle, and that’s in addition to 6 bags of other items.   I ended up with a total purchase price of $135.66 and I paid a net of $42.28  (with $14 in rr’s) — a 69% savings.  I felt like I was buying out the store!

Here is probably the best part for me — Publix had a sale on their AleveD (from $8.29 to $5.99) and I had a $1.00 mfg coupon.  I also had a $5.00 mfg coupon on two Aleve or Bayer products, so I got 2 bottles of the 81 gm bayer aspirin that my husband takes daily.   That’s all I ran in to get today, and here’s my “haul” and cash register receipt……

Check it out!  I used one of my $5 Walgreens rr’s  and ended up paying .13 out of pocket for the AleveD and two bottles of Bayer Aspirin!  Now that’s my kind of shopping.

**Side note here — that AleveD is absolutely the greatest for a cold!  When I feel like I’m coming down with a cold (itchy / runny nose or little headache) I take one in the morning and usually I don’t need to take any more, or at the most one the next morning.  My theory is if you feel a cold coming on, you need to “get it” before “it” gets you!!!

Sarah’s Publix Trip 12/28 – $53.14 for $27.14

Well, I only saved 49% — but I AM learning, Denise!   However, check out my goodies that I got!  Denise’s kids (4 year old quads and 5 year old big brother) will be at our house for the next three days and they BEG for fruit and vegetables.  Publix had strawberries for $2.99/pkg (about $2.00 cheaper than I can get at the commissary), bananas for $.39/lb and cantaloupes 2/$3.00.  Add to that the B1G1 for Juicy Juice and B1G1 for Lays chips and B1G1 for Mini Wheats and I think I was pretty successful!  The bad part is that I ran into a friend that wanted to tell me about her Christmas – my husband was waiting in the car for me — so in trying to get done and out I forgot my hot dogs, B1G1 and Oscar Myer bacon B1G1 and an additional coupon I had.  Oh well, I can get those things on my next run!

My 12/28 Walgreens Trip – $155.94 for $44.07

I had a couple good B1G1 qs for Olay lotion and body wash that expire this week so the deal at Walgreens where you get a free bottle of Tide ($8.99) when you buy $30 in Proctor & Gamble products was good timing for me.  I actually could have made out a little better on this deal by getting larger bottles of the Quench lotion instead, but I absolutely LOVE their new in-shower body lotion so I nabbed the last two bottles of it that they had instead 🙂  Since I got the smaller bottles I won’t do as well on the rebate either, but I’ll still get $8.83 back on the MIR.

They had the boxed colognes and other gift items on sale for 50% off so I got my dad and my husband each some Old Spice, plus I just had to get one more of the Nivea lotion / lip care deals before the end of the month (free lotion and 2 free lip).  Here are a few of the deals I got:

Purchase $30 in listed products, Get a coupon for free 50 oz Tide

Final Price: Free after coupons

When I was walking out of the store I realized that the catalina machine had not printed my coupon for the free Tide so I marched right back in and explained that I had well over $30 in P&G products and according to the ad I should’ve received the coupon.  Well they sent me to the cosmetics counter to wait for a manager who took everything out of my bags then disappeared with my receipt to “find a calculator”.  When he came back he said that I had $32.90 in listed products “before coupons” so he thinks that’s why it didn’t print.  I told him I’d be happy to take the Tide instead and he agreed to let me do that 🙂  So just an fyi – be sure you got the coupon before leaving the store if doing this deal while using a bunch of qs!

My 12/28 Publix Trip – $161.64 for $61.63

Okay – I only saved 62% today but I blame the dog and the husband, not in any particular order 🙂  but the dog was hungry (Purina One on sale for $16.99) and it is supposed to get down to 28 degrees tonight, almost unheard of in our part of the south, so the hubby talked me into getting two bundles of firewood ($4.59 x 2 = $9.18).  I did pretty good on everything else though – ended up with $161.64 in items and paid $61.63.

I had Target qs that I paired with the Juicy Juice (paid $1/each)  and the Oscar Mayer deli meats (paid $1.75 each).  I also had a Target q for a B1G1 Glade Lasting Impressions that I stacked with 2 store qs, and a few other Glade qs that are expiring this week so I wanted to use them up.  I had a rain check that made the I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter B1G1, and I used 4 $1 qs, which made them 49 cents a box.  Not pictured – dog food, firewood, Viva paper towels ($2 q).

Last Minute CVS Trip Very Fruitful

I’ll have to admit that I’m not the couponer expert that my daughter, Denise, is, however I’m learning.  Every once in awhile I get some unexpected savings, and this is one of them!

My husband and I were just making a last minute trip into CVS to get the low dose Bayer Aspirin he needed, and I wanted to take advantage of a Listerine sale and coupon I had.  Here is what I ended up with:

Listerine – on sale for $3.99 (and gave $3.00 RR) (and I had a $1.00 coupon)

Low dose Bayer Aspirin – $2.79 and I had a $1.00 coupon

Total bill $7.08 (Incl. tax) — minus my 2 $1.00 coupons equaled $5.08.

Well, my cash register receipt contained the RR of $3.00 from the listerine AND bonus bucks of $5.00 off a $15.00 order (whch had to be used in 3 days).  I just couldn’t pass up that “use in 3 days” portion, so I headed to the pharmacy to get some Primatine Mist tablets that we’d be needing shortly.  Here’s what I got from the pharmacy:

2 boxes of 24 ct Primatine Mist tablets ($5.79 each) (I also had a $2.00 mfg coupon)

2 boxes of 200ct CVS brand tissues ($1.99 each)

My pharmacy total was $16.17 (incl. tax), but after deducting my $2.00 primatine mfg. coupon, the $3.00 rr and the $5.00 bonus bucks my total paid was $6.17.

I figured I’d made out very well!   Now I’m off to eat lunch — the FREE Whataburger that was part of the Twelve Days of Whataburger deals.  What part of FREE do I like best?  All of it!!

My 12/21 Walgreens Trip – Only Saved 65%

I was a little disappointed in my Walgreens trip this week, I didn’t have any RR to spend and the specials weren’t great, but I traded for a bunch of Nivea lip care (B1G1) and Nivea lotion (buy 3 lip care get lotion free) coupons and they all expire at the end of the month so I decided to stop in any and try to use up some coupons before they expire.

I did end up with $91.11 worth of stuff for $31.52 OOP.  Isn’t it sad to be disappointed in only 65% off?    Well I did get some stocking stuffers and straws for the kids and some much needed Arm & Hammer laundry detergent for only $2.99 each, so I’m good with that!  Here are some of the deals:

My 12/18 Walgreens Trip

I had one of these 15% off at Walgreens coupons and it expired today so even though I didn’t really need anything there, I went ahead and ran in for a small trip.

I was finally able to use my $1/4 Hunt’s tomato sauce along with the Wags coupon for 3/$1, I also used a $5/2 John Frieda Root Awakening products plus the Wags $3 off.  I didn’t use (or receive) any register rewards, but I was still able to walk out of the store with only $1.01 out of pocket!
