Mardi Gras celebrations typically take place in the week or two before Fat Tuesday, which signals the beginning of Lent on Wednesday and the end of the celebrations, however here in Northwest Florida Mardi Gras is like a season that lasts a couple of months! We have parades, king cake ceremonies and lots of parties during January and February and the kids love to get involved with fun Mardi Gras crafts so I’ve rounded up a few of our favorite craft ideas here:

Mardi Gras is French for Fat Tuesday and refers to the practice of the last night of eating richer, fatty foods before the ritual fasting of the Lenten season, which begins on Ash Wednesday. This year Fat Tuesday falls on March 4th and the parades have already kicked off in our area so I thought it would be nice to do a roundup of Mardi Gras inspired dishes.
