DIY Facial Cleansing Wipes with Geranium, Lavender and Frankincense

DIY Facial Cleansing Wipes with Geranium, Lavender and Frankincense

Way back in the day when I was in high school I read that for every day you don’t remove your makeup before bed you are aging your face TWO days! That statement has stuck with me ever since and I’m pretty religious about cleaning my face at the end of every day. I’ve used everything from foaming cleansers to astringents and I’ve found that the best method for me is to use a gentle cleansing wipe because plain water isn’t enough to remove all the makeup and impurities but plain soap or astringent cleansers are too harsh for daily use. But more importantly, facial cleansing wipes are convenient and disposable so all I have to do is grab one, wipe my face, then toss the wipe in the trash – easy breezy and I have no excuses for not taking care of my skin.

Do It Yourself Salon Gel Nails at Home

Do It Yourself Salon Gel Nails at Home

I recently bought a Groupon for a mani-pedi at a local salon and felt like it was a great deal – I paid $27 for a $60 value manicure. When I called to schedule the appointment I mentioned that I wanted gel nail polish and she told me that would be $15 more. When I got to my appointment she was only going to do my fingernails with gel polish and when I told her I wanted the toes in gel polish also she said that would be ANOTHER $15. After tip I ended up paying $67 for my mani-pedi. Not only that, but I was at the salon for nearly three hours and felt like I had to entertain the manicurist the whole time. I left there feeling like I had wasted my time and money since I can do my own gel nail polish at home for SO much less!

Do It Yourself Salon Gel Nails at Home

All you need are a few simple, inexpensive tools and you can do your own gel nail polish manicure at home and save a bundle! Here’s the list of the things you’ll need to do your own gel nail polish manicures at home:

  1. UV Lamp
  2. pH Bond Nail Prep
  3. Gel Polish Base Coat
  4. Gel Nail Polish
  5. Gel Polish Top Coat
  6. Pure Acetone Remover
  7. Lint Free Nail Wipes
  8. Nail Buffer and Fingernail File
  9. Soak Off Nail Caps

How to Save Big on Salon Gel Nails at Home

I’m currently obsessed with heat sensitive gel polish that changes color and I think I now have about 15 different colors. In the pictures above I’m wearing Ice Queen from DIY Hard Nails, which changes color from a light lilac when warm to a dark purple when cold, but normally has dark purple tips.

To give yourself a professional gel polish manicure at home follow these easy steps:

  1. Trim, file and buff your nails until smooth to prepare for the polish.
  2. Apply a coat of pH Bond.
  3. Apply a thin coat of Gel Polish Base Coat then cure under UV Lamp for two minutes.
  4. Apply a thin coat of your favorite Gel Nail Polish then cure under UV Lamp for two minutes. Repeat for a second coat.
  5. Apply a thin coat of Gel Polish Top Coat, being sure to cover the tips and sides, then cure under UV Lamp for two minutes.
  6. Wipe nails with a Lint Free Nail Wipe soaked in acetone to remove the tacky feel.

To remove soak off gel nail polish:

  1. Using a nail file buff off the shiny top coat.
  2. Soak a cotton ball or cotton square in Acetone and hold in place over the fingernail with a soak off nail cap.
  3. Keep caps on for ten minutes then use a cuticle pusher to scrape off the loosened polish.
  4. Buff nails until smooth.

Do You Work Hard to Hide Your Rosacea Like I Do? Win a Prosacea® Care Package

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Prosacea for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

Prosacea Before

I’ve had redness on my cheeks since high school and years ago when my dermatologist diagnosed it as Rosacea he told me that I’d have to get laser treatments to get rid of the redness. Unfortunately my insurance wouldn’t cover laser treatments so I learned over the years how to conceal the redness with makeup and always do anything I can to keep it from getting worse, like using sunscreen daily and wearing large sunglasses that cover my cheeks.

Prosacea

Recently I had the opportunity to try Prosacea Medicated Rosacea Gel – it is dermatologist recommended to treat and control rosacea symptoms like redness, irritation and bumps. Since I suffer from all of those things I was very happy to give it a try. The gel is light and goes on very smoothly so I’ve been wearing it under my makeup and then putting it on again before bed after I take my makeup off for a couple of weeks.

Prosacea After,

Although I can still tell where the redness is on my cheeks the Prosacea Medicated Rosacea Gel has really calmed it down and I don’t think that most people could even notice it anymore. I’m excited that the gel has also reduced the bumps that I tend to get in that area.

If you also have issues with rosacea then I’d highly recommend giving Prosacea a try so you can heal rather than conceal your redness and bumps. Like with everything in your medicine cabinet, please make sure to read and follow all label instructions before using.

Leave a comment below telling us how you deal with or care for your rosacea and one lucky reader will win a Prosacea® care package!!

Adult Blemishes and My Proactiv+ Review

Disclosure – I participated in an Influencer Activation Program on behalf of Influence-Central for Proacitv+. I received samples of Proactiv+ to facilitate my review and a thank you item for participating.

When I was younger, in high school and college, I had really good skin – thank you mom for good genes! I rarely if ever had any breakouts at a time when it was a pretty big issue for many of my friends. My skincare routine back then consisted of washing my face in the morning and again at night to remove my makeup before bed. Now that I’m in my 40’s I’m getting breakouts on a pretty regular basis and it’s been driving me crazy. It seems like I’ve tried every product on the market and none has really been a good solution.

I still take pretty good care of my skin, I clean my face twice a day and exfoliate a few times a month, but my old routine isn’t working for me anymore. I’ve tried creams, ointments and masks to keep the breakouts to a minimum but the bumps keep showing up, especially around my mouth and on my cheeks. I have a full time job and it’s embarrassing to show up for a meeting with big zits so I keep concealers and powders on hand to hide them the best I can.

Proactiv+ Review

I would much rather be able to control my acne breakouts than have to try and hide them so I was very happy to try out Proactiv+ and see how it would work out for me. Proactiv+ is a three step system – first you do use the Skin Smoothing Exfoliator, next you apply the Pore Targeting Treatment and finally you use the Complexion Perfecting Hydrator.

The Proactiv+ Skin Smoothing Exfoliator has benzoyl peroxide in it and you can feel it lightly scrubbing your skin. After using it the first time my skin felt smoother and now that I’ve been using it for about a month I can really feel a big difference in the texture of my skin. The Pore Targeting Treatment is a light benzoyl peroxide cream that is spread on thinly after exfoliating. The Complexion Perfecting Hydrator has salicylic acid in it and is a heavier moisturizing cream that goes on last. Honestly, I was a little concerned the first time I used this cream because I thought it might be a little too heavy for my sometimes sensitive skin, but it feels great going on and absorbs quickly so it doesn’t feel like too much on my skin.

Although the breakouts haven’t completely gone away, they are much lighter and less frequent and I believe there will be fewer of them as I continue to use Proactiv+. I’m thrilled to have found a system that is easy to use, quick and simple to apply, and that has helped to brighten and smooth my skin while at the same reducing my embarrassing acne breakouts!

Purchase The Proper Hair Extension For Fashion’s Sake

Remy Hair Extensions

When people shop for women’s hair extensions, they must make sure they are looking for extensions that actually make them look better. Hair extensions must be purchased based on the length, color and style of the hair of the wearer. Some women want an extension that they can style their hair like, and other women would prefer to get an extension that looks just like their natural hair.

Length

Some women want thicker looking hair, and they can use extensions to make their hair appear much more gorgeous than it already is. The hair extension can be tucked inside their natural hair to help give it some body.

Other hair extensions are designed to make the hair look as long as possible. There many extensions that will make the hair appear very long, and there are some extensions that will make the hair appear just slightly longer. There is nothing wrong with purchasing an extension as long as it the right length for the lady.

Color

Every extension should be purchased in a color that makes the most sense for the lady. There are times when ladies have a difficult time finding the right color, but a little searching will help ladies to figure out which color is best going to match their natural hair. If the extension is purchased properly, the lady will always have options when they want to change their look.

Look Different

Many ladies wants to invest in a hair extension because it is going to change their appearance. They can look completely different, and they can wear these extensions when they want to look different in a costume. Some ladies prefer to wear these extensions when they are dressing up for a big event, and other ladies will wear the extensions all the time.

With each new extension, ladies can wear something that makes them feel beautiful and desirable. The best hair extension makes a lady’s hair longer, fuller and more beautiful. Choosing the right color and length is the only way to make a lovely change. A new head of hair is around the corner with a new extension.

It’s Back! Fabulous Deals on Latisse Eyelash Enhancer!

Latisse

Maybe it’s because I have fine blonde hair, but I have always felt like I had skimpy eyelashes and I’ve been wanting to try Latisse for a very long time to plump them up and get better length. Latisse is the only FDA approved treatment for inadequate or thin lashes and it helps them grow longer, fuller and darker. It actually requires a prescription to get Latisse, but there are a couple places online approved to sell it if you fill out a short Intake and Informed Consent Form before purchase. That alone will save you the time and expense of visiting your doctor, but for a few more days (through Sunday 6/29) you can also get a fabulous discount through Plum District! One 3ml bottle, enough for 70 applicators or one month of use, generally costs $144 but you can get it for $89; or a 5ml bottle, enough for 140 applicators or two months of use generally costs $199 but you can get it for just $129!

I bought this when they had the deal in early May so I’ve been using it for a few weeks and I’m thrilled with the results! My lashes are definitely longer and fuller and I’m having a blast watching them get even longer and thicker. I took some ‘before’ pictures and I’ll post the ‘after’ pix once I’ve been using it at least a month.

Here is more info on how it works:

  • LATISSE® is the first and only FDA-approved treatment for short, thin eyelashes; designed by Allergan, the manufacturer of trusted treatments including Botox, Juvederm, SkinMedica and Vivite
  • LATISSE increases eyelash fullness, length, and darkness within just 4 weeks of continued use; full results appear in 16 weeks
  • Each 3ml box contains 70 applicators – good for over 1 month of use; each 5 ml box contains 140 applicators – good for over 2 months of use
