My best friend throws an annual Glitter Bomb party every Christmas that is the “must attend” party of the season. I don’t know how she deals with the mess afterwards, but each year she’s done some amazing things with the “glitter bombs” and this year’s version was my favorite!

A few of us got together for a craft day to put together the glitter bombs the week before the party. You start by taking the lids off of craft test tubes and drilling holes in the top to make them shakers. Be sure to place a board or piece of wood on your work surface before drilling approximately five holes in each lid.

Next, use a funnel to fill the test tubes with glitter. You can use one color of glitter to match a theme, fill the tubes with different colors of glitter, or add the glitter in colored layers if you’d like.

We’ve found that fine glitter works best for the shakers, although I will say its not that easy to get out of your hair!

Once we were done filling all of the test tubes with glitter, we put the drilled lids back on and stored them in the container they came in so they’d be ready to add the lights just before the party.

An hour or so before the party we activated small lights that you’d use to light balloons and placed one in each test tube. Then we used ribbon tied around the tops and ends curled to complete the look.

The display of all the lit up glitter wands (bombs) in this metallic basket was fantastic! Arriving guests couldn’t wait to check them out and begin “bombing” unsuspecting arrivals with glitter. As always, it was an amazingly fun night and I’ll be spending the next few finding glitter in surprising places.
