25 Must See Places to Visit in Florida

If you are headed to Florida for a quick trip or a long vacation you are in for a treat. The weather is fantastic year round ( except maybe sometimes through hurricane season), it is home to amazing beaches, lots of theme parks, fishing, and endless other activities. So whatever part of Florida you visit you will not find a shortage of beautiful views or of fun filled locations. Check out my list of 25 Must See Places in Florida before you plan your vacation, some are specific places and others are entire towns that deserve a visit!

  1. Busch Gardens,Tampa – If you want thrilling rides, and animals in wonderfully staged habitats you  will want to be sure to spend at  at least one day here in this African themed adventure park.
  2. The Florida Keys – Key West, snorkeling, Margaritaville, and the Southernmost Point in the U.S you will want to add this to your bucket list for sure!
  3. Clearwater – While this is a touristy beach for sure this is where you will find souvenirs to take home, miles of white sandy beach, and the best Grouper Sandwich in Florida!
  4. Disney World, Orlando – Mad about the Mouse? You must head to Orlando in central Florida ( this is where the majority of the theme parks are and ride one the Mad Hatter’s Tea cups, get chills in The Haunted Mansion, and cool off with a famous Dole Whip
  5. Crystal River -Visit the Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge where you can view manatees.
  6. Legoland, Winter Haven – Legoland opened a few years ago in central Florida and offers Lego lovers a great assortment of rides, 3D movies, shops, and water features.
  7. Ft. Desoto – This is a fantastic family beach that also has picnic tables and shelters, fishing, campgrounds, and also remnants of the old fort and canons if history is your thing.
  8. St. Augustine – The oldest city in America offers many historical adventures, tours, haunted ghost walks, and beaches.
  9. Sanibel Island – If you want a beach with seashells this is the place to head to, they have even named shell
  10. Johns Pass/Treasure Island – While you want to stay right on the gorgeous beach in Treasure Island you will want to drive 5 minutes to John’s Pass and soak up the restaurants, fishing, shopping, and other activities as well.
  11. Ocala National Forest – Some of the most beautiful scenery in Florida is located in the Ocala National Forest. You can go hiking, kayaking, canoeing, dive, snorkel, bike, ATV, camp and more here.
  12. Kennedy Space Center – Check out the theater, shuttle launch experience, get up close to astronauts, rockets, and other space stuff  located on the East Coast in Titusville.
  13. Old Town, Orlando – This is one of Kissimmee’s hottest hot spots, especially on the weekend when they host car shows in addition to restaurants and shopping that make up this strip.
  14. Disney Springs, Orlando – Shopping, shopping, dining, and did I mention shopping? This fun strip is located not to far from Disney and is fun for daytime or nightlife. Restaurants from snack bars to Planet Hollywood line this strip.
  15. Weeki Wachi – The home of the mermaids is small but worth a trip. During the summer you can swim in the spring and watch beautiful mermaids perform underwater shows, as well as take a ride in a glass bottom boat.
  16. Everglades – The largest subtropical wilderness in the U.S. “Swampy ancient waterways full of alligators and many endangered species you can explore the waterways or camp to take it all in.
  17. Universal Studios, Orlando – Your favorite movies come to life here-walk the streets of Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley or ride with the Minions.  You can choose Universal Studios or the Universal Studios Islands of Adventure.
  18. Panama City – Beaches, state parks, biking, hiking, fishing, shopping, and more are located in the panhandle of Florida in Panama City.
  19. Tarpon Springs – Sponges, amazing Greek food, and fresh seafood are what you will find in the quaint little waterside town of Tarpon Springs.
  20. Mt. Dora – A sweet small town that is studded with B&B’s, antique shops, and quaint eateries.
  21. Rainbow Springs State Park – The 4th largest spring in Florida is a great spot for swimming, snorkeling, canoeing, picnicking, tubing, camping, and just about every other outdoor activity you can think of.
  22. Fort Myers – A historic district where Ford & Edison had winter homes and you can visit their laboratory and garage, great restaurants, and beaches.
  23. Miami – This hotspot has been the subject of several hit TV shows for a good reason. Amazing nightlife, authentic Cuban food, culture and of course Miami Beach.
  24. Three Sisters Springs, Crystal RiverThe only place in America that you can enter the water to see the gentle giant the Florida Manatee or you can view them from the boardwalk.
  25. Tampa – Here is where you find places like historic Ybor City, minor league baseball teams doing spring training, NFL Buccaneers, NHL Lightning, museums, theaters, and colleges.
