My cube mate at work is a hard core gamer and comes from a family of gamers. When I told him I was getting a Linksys 3200 router to replace my old one he got really jealous, said he has a Linksys 1900 and thought it was awesome until he heard about mine. I figured that was high praise so I was anxious to set it up right away.
Each of my five children has their own computer that they use for school work and of course gaming once they’ve completed their studies. Their computers all line two walls of the playroom because I don’t want the computers in their rooms, I prefer to keep them all in one space where they can be more easily supervised.
Our Internet connection comes in through a modem that is located in my bedroom at one end of the house and the kids computers are all located in the furthest room located at the other end of the house. We tried WiFi for awhile but there is a brick wall for the fireplace in the living room in between here and there and there’s a door at the end of the hallway that effectively shuts down their Internet connection if someone forgets and shuts the door. To combat the problem I ran CAT 5 cable from the modem around the outside of the house to the playroom and then promptly hooked it up to an old router that we’d had in storage for years. Although that connection was better than what they had before, I’d hear daily complaints about their favorite computer games lagging and stalling.
When my new Linksys WRT3200ACM MU-MIMO Gigabit Wi-Fi Router from Best Buy arrived I couldn’t wait to get it hooked up. The instructions that came in the box were short and sweet, just a few steps and I had the new router all setup and ready to go. I didn’t mention anything to the kids because I wanted to see if they noticed. While I honestly don’t think they really figured out what was different, I was amazed at the lack of griping about connection speed and how much happier they were with their gaming “skills”.
Two of the kids’ computers are hard wired to the router but the other three, located across the room, use WiFi to access the Internet. Effectively, there are six of us sharing the Internet connection and when everyone is on at once it can be pretty frustrating. Our new Linksys WRT3200ACM MU-MIMO Gigabit Wi-Fi Router is powered by Tri-Stream 160 technology, which doubles the bandwidth on all spatial streams for the fastest dual-band router on the market and and my little Minecraft and Steam addicts think it’s the best thing ever. As my cubemate explained to me, the router’s MU-MIMO technology is created for high-speed Wi-Fi to multiple devices at the same time and I’m proud to report that it’s solved some problems for us and less griping from the kids always makes this momma happy. Thank you Linksys!
