Final Numbers for December – Saved $801.08

Before this week is over I’ll be working on a new budget for next year and getting the new spreadsheet ready, but I’m excited to report that for December we came in at nearly $114 under our current monthly budget of $375!  I find that amazing considering we bought 40 pounds of chicken that will be delivered from Zaycon Foods next week, and had some extra expenses for the holidays in there.  On the other hand, we started out the month with a positive after this profitable Walgreens trip so that made a big difference.  I’m also super excited to be participating in the Boost Your Budget Pantry Challenge next month where we’ll be keeping our spending to a minimum as we attempt to eat for the month strictly from our freezer, pantry and stockpile.   For the month of December we spent $261.35 to buy $1,062.43 worth of groceries, toiletries, cleaning supplies and gifts, or a savings of 76%!  According to the spreadsheet we’ve spent $2,933.86 so far this year for $14,010.39 worth of stuff, or 80% off. That equates to an average of $244 per month for our family of seven, or $1.15/day per person!
