My 12/5 Walgreens Trip – $127.37 for $23.89 Profit or 119% Off

Wow – this was a really good trip today!  The One Touch lancing devices were a $10 money maker each and I bought the gift cards to absorb the overage.  I didn’t need to buy all three cards but I’m planning to give them as gifts, and I got a gift card tin free with each gift card purchase so that was a fabulous deal.  Btw – I plan to keep one of the lancets and donate the other two.  I wanted a few more cans of the pork and beans but this was the last one they had and it was hidden so I had to hunt for it.   Today I bought $127.37 worth of stuff for a profit of $23.89, or 119% off!  I earned $8 Register Rewards and $10 Jingle Cash.  Here are the deals:

  1. Great trip…wondered where the coupon is found for the Lancing strips? I don’t quite understand that transaction, grouped with the ChickfilA cards…
    Thanks!

  2. Thanks Wendy! I forgot the link but its in there now – the lancing device is $19.99 and you need to hand over the $19.99 off manufacturer’s coupon first, then give them the Wags $10 q last. That makes it a $10 money maker, but they won’t give you cash back so you have to buy something to absorb the overage. You could do this deal with just the device and the gift card, pay nothing (unless your state taxes medical devices then you’ll pay tax) and walk out with the device and the gift card, plus the free gift card tin this week. My store had tons of different gift cards to choose from!

  3. I’m sorry…I still don’t see the link for the lancing strips… am I missing something? Thanks! :) You always do so well on your trips!

  4. Where do you get the lancet coupons from? I don’t see any links.

  5. Thanks Denise…I keep watching for the link to show up…it’s still not there. Is it a printable or was it in an insert?

  6. found it…sorry to keep bugging you!

  7. What AWESOME trips you had today —- would be nice if there were more like this – but you’re right – take them when you can get them!

  8. So sorry guys – I added the link then left to pick up the kiddos from school and forgot to publish :( It is up there now!

  9. My wags would not let me do this. They said you had to scan MQs first. They would only allow me to get the lance for free…no overage. :( It did print $5 Jingle Cash though…so I still made $5.

  10. I’m sorry Crystal! I’ve been hearing reports that the deal is working at about 4 out of 5 stores. In our area we’ve got two Wags stores that aren’t very coupon friendly so I didn’t even try there! I hate that it didn’t work out for you, but I’m glad you got the Jingle Cash :)

  11. I tried to use today too but the mgr brought out their coupon policy and said that they do not do overages. Would have been awesome it they did!

  12. Well shoot! Do you have another Walgreens nearby that you could try? Might be worth it if you do. The interpretation of ‘overage’ at my store is that they won’t give you any cash back, but that’s why you buy something else or a gift card to go along with the deal. I’ll keep everything crossed that you have better luck next time!

  13. Unfortunately the Coupon Policy does state that coupon value cannot exceed the price of the product, in other words no overage :/. Im happy for those of you that were allowed to do this, but my Wags would not :/

  14. I tried to replicate the Lancet and gift card deal at several Wags in my area – because I couldn’t find more than 1 at each store. I was able to do it at 2 stores but the third wouldn’t allow it and said the other stores were ringing the sales up incorrectly.

I wish they were all on the same page. It was very frustrating after driving all over the area just to try to find them!

But thanks, Denise, for the two I did get! I wouldn’t have known about it without you.

  15. Thank YOU for letting us know! I’m very happy that it worked for you at those two stores! Since the coupons are good through Christmas you might have some time for those two stores to get more in :)

  16. I was able to do the gift card deal today, so excited! Thank you for the idea and I linked back to you. BTW why were the gift card boxes free? I didn’t see a coupon or anything.

  17. Awesome! I’m so glad it worked out for you! The gift card tins were listed as free with the purchase of any gift card in last week’s sale flyer – no coupon necessary. Only the Christmas tins were ringing up properly, although the store adjusted these for me since they never had any Christmas tins in stock.

  18. Is there a certain order that I should give the coupons in for the Delica deal? I thought that I should give manufacturers coupons first and then store coupons, but wondered if it makes a difference. Thanks!

  19. YES! You need to give them the manufacturer’s coupons first, then hand over the store coupon last or the deal won’t work. :)

  20. Thank you, Denise! I hope it works for me. I’m a few years into couponing now and so far, this is my lowest oop for Christmas. Thanks to my savings, I was able to donate a gift card for a family that lost their home in a fire. I would not have been able to do that without shopping great deals like this one. I appreciate you and your blog for helping me help others. :)

  21. Yay! I had no problems with my Delica deal. I had 2 coupons, but only 1 Delica was left so I changed my shopping scenario and stocked up on 4 Diet Coke 12 packs. It cost me $2 plus tax. I am happy with this because it will cut down on my grocery bill for the next few weeks. I will check back to see if they get any more Delica in. Thanks for sharing this deal!

  22. Hot diggity! That’s awesome :)
