  1. Michael says:

Hi, I just started couponing recently and when I went to Winn Dixie today to buy the BOGO KC Masterpiece barbecue sauce and use 2 $1 off coupons they were trying to tell me I could only use 1 because it said “Limit one per purchase.” I was under the impression that “Limit one per purchase” meant one per item, not one per shopping trip. Does anyone have clarification?

  2. Hi Michael! That’s such a bummer! More and more stores are really watching the wording on the coupons to make sure they get reimbursed, but I agree with you that “one per purchase” means per item. Some coupons actually say “one per transaction” or I’ve even seen this “limit of 4 like coupons per transaction”. In this situation you could politely ask for a supervisor’s opinion. Another tip would be to “profile” the cashiers before checking out – I always like to see who’s on duty while I’m walking through the store. If I don’t see my regular cashier I like to pick either a young male cashier (because they don’t tend to be too picky) or a friendly looking older woman (because they’re typically thorough but not too condescending to couponers). I hope this helps! Please don’t get discouraged, it really is worth it to hang in there!
