Skoy Cloth Review and Giveaway – 2 Winners!

THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED!  I was very happy to get a chance to try out the Skoy Cloth because I’d heard good things about them and they’re good for the environment, but honestly I was a little skeptical about all of the claims.

Here’s what the company says about Skoy Cloth:

SKOY cloth is a …

                  100% biodegradable

                  Absorbent

                  Re-usable

                  European-made

                  Clean

                  and Fun…

                                    Multi-use cloth

The SKOY cloth is a fabulous, absorbent, biodegradable and natural multi-use cloth.  Our re-usable earth friendly cloth is perfect in your kitchen, bathroom, and on most surface areas in your home or office.  SKOY cloth can be used in place of your sponge, wash cloth or paper towels.

It is a European made product and 100% biodegradable because it is made from a natural cotton and wood-based cellulose pulp.  SKOY cloth is a chlorine-free product using water-based colors and inks.  After an independent composting test, SKOY cloth broke down completely within 5 weeks.

The SKOY cloth is a durable product due to the reusability factor and can last months.  Using a SKOY cloth is equivalent to using 15 rolls of paper towels in an average home.  With the high cost of paper towels, as much as $2 per roll, SKOY cloth is the obvious choice for your wallet and the environment.

The SKOY cloth has an absorption factor of 15x its own weight.  As a result, producing the most superior cloth product available.  Imagine using 15 sheets of good-quality paper towels at once… This is how a wet SKOY cloth will feel in your hand.

The SKOY cloth is long-lasting because of the wash ability feature.  It dries quickly, so it is not a breeding ground for bacteria.    Have you ever used your sponge, then smelled your hand and it reeked of horrible bacteria? That will never happen again if you microwave your SKOY cloth regularly. It is also dishwasher and washer/dryer safe. Cleaning your SKOY cloth will keep it healthy and germ-free.

Here’s What I Think of Skoy Cloth:

I really liked the minimalist packaging, it was both cute and efficient without being wasteful.  The cool design is definitely unique and fun to use – just as promised, but when I pulled them out of the envelope I still had my doubts that they’d last very long or replace a single roll of paper towels, much less 15 rolls.  So we set about to try and destroy them (that’s probably typical usage in our household – our five under five can destroy pretty much anything in a heartbeat 🙁 ).

I threw away my old sponge that was starting to look a little slimy and replaced it with the first Skoy cloth and wondered how long it would be before the pretty yellow color started to fade.  We’ve been using it as both a dish cloth and a sponge ever since, plus we used the heck out of it on freezer cooking day, but some of us (sorry to throw you under the bus honey) have had a bit of a problem with using fewer paper towels.

Final Results – We’ve been using the Skoy cloth for one month and I have been very pleasantly surprised that it’s long lasting, fast drying, and doesn’t turn icky or smelly like our old sponges and wash cloths after they’ve set around wet for too long.  Actually, I am rather amazed that after a month we’re still using the FIRST one!  They sent me four to try, and that’s what you get when you order a package, four multi-colored, four white or four printed with inspirational messages for $6.99.  That seemed rather expensive to me because I didn’t expect them to last very long as they’re kind of thin when dry and made of cotton and wood pulp, plus I know that I would never pay “as much as $2 per roll” for paper towels.  So here are my calculations:

$6.99 / 4 = $1.75 per Skoy Cloth

For us it replaced two rolls of paper towels and a sponge = 2 rolls @ 75 cents each + $1 sponge = $2.50

We’re already ahead 75 cents from just the first Skoy Cloth and we could probably get better about using fewer paper towels (hint hint honey!) so maybe next month we could save even more.  In addition to the cost savings, I feel like we’re doing something good for the environment since they’re made from natural ingredients and are completely compostable, plus we’re not throwing away nearly as many paper towels.  I would definitely recommend the Skoy Cloth and I’m happy to be able to giveaway a set to two lucky winners!  USA winners only.

Two lucky readers will each win a package of four Skoy Cloths!
